Did you know that each organ and tissue donor has the potential to save or improve the lives of as many as 50 individuals? In the United States, there is a great shortage of donor organs. In 2005, 28,000 organ transplants were performed, yet on any given day, as many as 92,000 are waiting for an organ transplant. Current statistics show that 3,700 transplant candidates are added to the national waiting list each day.
